TRAVEL TUESDAY- SAN DIEGO

I haven't done a Travel Tuesday in a while, so thought I would hit y'all with a throwback from when we went to San Diego. This was a total last minute trip, so we didn't really plan anything except for a few nights before. Like I've mentioned before, the hubs and I are big fans of Priceline. We always find the best deals through Priceline and we typically do the secret hotel option where we pick out our area and star rating. It has never disappointed us- knock on wood haha. We stayed in La Jolla for 2 nights at the Hyatt, and then stayed in San Diego at the US GRANT for 2 nights. The US Grant was so amazing-one of the nicest hotels we have definitely ever stayed in. I'm pretty sure the hubs scored this for less than $200 a night which was amazing considering we booked it so last minute. We love traveling to the West Coast-such a chill and fun vibe. Below, I'm sharing some pictures of some good food, brews, and fun spots we hit up while we were there.

The above 2 pictures were taken at Jakes, which was in Del Mar. We thought the drinks were really good, but the food was just okay. It was a super cute place though and right on the beach.

We had breakfast at this place called Werewolf one day, and those breakfast balls were definitely just as delicious as they look in the above picture:)

WOW-Shorehouse kitchen was definitely our favorite breakfast we had in La Jolla.

Picture above is taken in front of US GRANT

We stopped at this brewery before we went to the racetracks in Del Mar. It was such a cool brewery.

Bar Bodega was such a cool happy hour spot we stopped at.

We stopped for some wine at M Winehouse.

Checking out those seal baes at La Jolla Cove.

This place was legit AF. They give you a bracelet and you can get tastings of any beer they have on tap. You can just pay at the end whatever you owe.

These donuts at the Donut Bar were soo good!

We thought this was possibly the best pizza we've ever had Cucina Urbana

We headed to the Del Mar Racetrack to see our favorite band, The Revivalists.

This place is definitely worth the visit. It was so beautiful! It was called the Japanese Friendship Garden in San Diego.

HOW TO WEAR AN OUTFIT 3 DIFFERENT WAYS

Hey y'all- I'm so sorry I've been MIA this week! I'm still not feeling well at all and haven't even gotten the chance to take more pictures. I'm going to share some pictures with y'all of when the hubs and I were in Nola. Some of y'all always ask me how to transition the same outfit to make for different looks, so I figured this would be a great example. In this outfit, I'm wearing the same skirt, purse, necklace, and shades. In the first picture, I added a scarf to a long sleeve top (I picked one out from forever 21 a while ago that was a little shorter in length). This scarf is adorable and on sale for less than $25 which you can find here. In the 3rd picture, I wore the same black top and added this fur vest from Kittsona. I love this vest! In the 4th picture, I wore this sparkly top which you can find here. Initially, when I saw this top, I thought it was going to be super scratchy. I picked it up from the rack and fell in love with how soft it was! I've already worn this top like 3 different times ahha! It's so cute styled with pants, skirts, jeans, etc! PS..these over the knee boots sold out a while ago, but I have these similar ones from Aldo in another color and love them as well:) Hope y'all are having an amazing weekend- I hope to be back in full swing soon :)

SKINCARE ROUTINE FAVES

I've been collaborating with Face to Face spa for a few months now and I can't even begin to tell y'all how much of a difference I  already see in my skin. Even before I went to Face to Face spa, I've always treated myself to a facial once/month. I'm so glad I started going to Face to Face spa vs the other places I went to in the past, because I truly see the most difference in my skin from going here. I've also jumped out of my comfort zone and tried different services such as dermaplaning, skin pen, microdermabrasion and I think this has also played a major part in my skin difference. The estheticians are also so awesome and always recommend skincare products specific to my skincare needs. I wanted to chat with y'all about some of my favorites I've received. It's funny because I was putting this post together and realized that most of the products I use on a daily basis are skinceutical products from Face to Face spa. Just so you know, I use these products regularly and have been doing so for the last few months (all except the B5 mask--I just got this one a week ago). These are also products I plan to stick with after they run out because I truly love them all!

1.) Soothing cleanser: This cleanser is a calming cleanser, and is also perfect if to you if you've had any procedure done such as a chemical peel, skin pen, microderm, etc. I love how it dispenses into a foam and also how it's suitable for my sensitive skin. I usually alternate between 2 or 3 cleansers, and this is one of them.

2.) Hydrating B5 gel: I will start out by saying this product is expensive, but it's a serious game changer. I have REALLY DRY skin, and this gel is a miracle worker. I use this everyday! In fact, I'm almost out and I'm about to buy some more of these magic drops ahha! I put a few drops of this on in the morning after the vitamin C serum, and then my moisturizer. I also use it at night time after cleansing and under my moisturizer.

3.) C E Ferulic: This is a vitamin C serum that I use every other day under my hydrating B5 gel. This is another pricey item, but I also feel like this is worth the splurge. If I had to pick 2 items I would splurge on skincare wise, it would be this one and the vitamin B5 gel. I feel like this serum has really helped with my discolorations and also with brightening my skin.

4.) Hydrating B5 mask: I actually just tried this for the first time a few days ago. I love love love trying out facial masks, and this one is perfect because it's super hydrating. Also, you just spread a layer on your face, let it penetrate into your skin, and then massage the rest of the product into your skin.

5.) Retinol 0.5: I use this for wrinkles, discoloration, etc. I only use this once/week at bedtime under my moisturizer.

NATURAL BEADED ROW EXTENSIONS

Hey y'all! Today I wanted to chat with y'all about my Natural Beaded Row extensions (NBR extensions). I've had these extensions in since June and I am in LOVE! I live in Austin and I go to Tiffany at Bowie Street Collective. She is seriously so awesome y'all-- I could go on and on about her amazingness! Not only is she awesome at doing hair, but she's one of those people where you go into her salon and you instantly connect with her and conversation is so easy! I was telling her the other day it's so hard to find a hair person you want to go back to haha, but she makes it super easy! Anyways, I know I posted pictures on my instagram story the other day and some of y'all had some questions so I figured I would answer them here.

*DISCLAIMER: I received this service by Tiffany at Bowie Street Collective here in Austin, TX in exchange for my honest opinion and review of NBR extensions. All thoughts and opinions are my own. For questions regarding the application, process, and details of natural beaded row extensions, you should talk to an NBR expert, as I am not an expert in this area*

1.) What are NBR extensions? NBR extensions are sewn in extensions. Picture this: 1-2 sections of hair, a tiny bead then clamped onto small pieces of your own hair from each section, wefts placed on top, and then sewn in.

2.) How much fake hair do I have?  In June, I started out with 2 rows. This was actually way too much hair for me, so the next time I went, I went down to 1 row. It was so much easier to maintain because it was basically half the hair and still looked amazing. I just went to get it redone, and Tiffany did 1.5 rows and I think I will stick with this amount because it's fuller than just 1 row, but not as much to maintain as 2 rows.

3.) How many rows do you need? It just depends on the person. Contact a consultation with Tiffany and she will tell you what she thinks is appropriate based on your hair type and what you want.

4.) How much hair do I have on each row? I have 5 pieces of hair on each row. I have 1 row, and then another half row which is considered a mini row.

5.) How often is the maintenance? Personally, I get mine tightened every 8-9 weeks, but it just depends on how fast your hair grows. I would say mine is on the slower side, so I wait a little bit longer. It is recommended you replace the hair every 6 months. Mine from June was actually still in good condition, so I probably could have gone another 8 weeks and it would have been fine. Also, when I went down to 1 row, I still had a lot of extra hair left over to use.

6.) What is the price? So initially, I invested $1500. This was for all of the hair, 2 rows, and color of the extensions. Honestly, it was definitely worth the investment. I can't imagine not having this hair now. Tightening costs anywhere in the $100s to $200s depending on the amount of rows you have. Also, it will be extra to color the hair. Contact Tiffany for specifics with pricing.

7.) What are the pros/cons?

  • Pros- I could go on and on about this amazing hair. It blends so easily with your natural hair that no one even knows I have extensions in. You can also change the color of the hair without changing your own hair color. For example, I had Tiffany do the ends of the NBR hair ombre and blend it in with my natural hair without coloring my own hair. I loved it!
  • Cons: Yes, it's a bit pricey, but I feel like people tell me they spend just as much on other extension types (maybe not as much as an initial investment, but maintenance of other extension methods, etc) and no offense, but I think the NBR extensions blend in the most naturally compared to tape ins, fused extensions, etc. The only other con I can think of is when I first got them in, my head hurt for a few days. I expected this though, especially because 2 rows of new hair was added to my crazy thin hair. This will be my 3rd tightening, and now it only feels a little strange the first night I sleep on it.

Let me know if y'all have any other questions:)

Now onto the fun part, before and after pictures:

My natural hair (front & back)

Hair application: (Don't hate me, but we got so carried away chatting that I forgot to take a photo of the beads attached to the pieces of hair that occured prior to attaching the weft) :(

Now the wefts are attached and ready to be sewn in. Here are some pictures of the finished hair (1.5 rows) completed by Tiffany.

Here are pictures of when I had 2 rows:

SKIN PEN FACE TO FACE SPA

Hey y'all,
I did a post last month on my first skin pen experience at Face to Face Spa. You can read about it here. I wrote about the results ~ 2 weeks after I received the treatment. I went for my second skin pen 11 days ago. I can definitely see a difference in my pore size and lighter discolorations around my nose then when I first started. I get my last one in a few weeks and I can't wait. If you have a Face to Face spa nearby, you should definitely check them out:)
